The new Huaxing School of Traditional Chinese Culture (Huaxing School) is founded as of May 2022. The mission of this school is to re-examine the major works of Chinese canon, philosophy, history and belles lettres with the purpose of bringing greater understanding of Chinese culture and what this culture can bring to the greater human goal of world peace. The school is unique in the way that it integrates new scholarly, exciting perspectives on China with established tradition, all the while using a dynamic, digital presentation.
Huaxing School offers various lecture series/courses for the general adult public and advanced university-level student/graduate student. For more dedicated learners, it offers reading courses in the original language. The school aims to balance a broad education in traditional Chinese culture, with some cross-cultural comparisons, with in-depth, thorough training in Sinology.
Huaxing School also offers private consultation and guidance on China matters for all manner of professionals, researchers, doctoral candidates, educators and policy-makers. The school’s focus is on the intersection of knowledge and practice in the world. The strengths of the school lie in the Canon, history, vernacular drama and fiction; and the ancient Chinese medicinal classic, Suwen.
